Under Pressure
These days, we lead very busy lives and all feel stressed from time to time. But, do you know what stress is, the symptoms to look out for if you think you may be stressed?, or how you can make the move from distress to de-stress? Check out the stress section for more information.
We often hear people say "I'm depressed" when they are feeling sad or fed up with life. However, if you are actually affected by depression, you have an illness. This section contains information on the symptoms of depression, how to help yourself, treatments for depression, and how to help someone else who is suffering from depression.
Self-harm is a deliberate self-inflicted action that causes injury to the body. The most common methods of self-harm include cutting or burning the skin, or overdosing on drugs. Visit the self-harm section for more information on why people self-harm. If you are somebody who uses self-harm as a method of coping, find out about methods of helping yourself, or if you know somebody who self-harms, see the section on helping someone else to find out how you can offer them care and support.
Another way we can be made to feel under pressure is through bullying. Bullying, in various forms, can happen in all sorts of places - at home, at school, on the street, and even at work. See the bullying section for information on what behaviour counts as bullying, why bullies bully and how to put a stop to bullying.
