Anabolic steroids
Nicknames:
Roids, Sustanon, Deca-dirabolin etc.
What does it look like?
It comes in tablets or in liquid form.
How it is used:
The tablets are taken orally, while the liquid is injected into the muscles.
The highs:
People such as athletes and body builders use them, because they say that they increase their aggression so that they can train harder and recover quicker from injury.
The lows:
There is an increased risk of heart, liver and kidney damage. In men they can cause breast growth and acne, whilst in women they can cause the growth of facial hair, deepening of voice and a reduction in the size of their breasts.
The law:
They are available on prescription. Supply is illegal and Class C penalties apply. (See Drugs - The Law for more information).
